Traditional Shutters: Making Windows Beautiful
Traditional shutters are also known as colonial style shutters. This shutter style was commonly seen in early American houses and be seen in houses that existed in the pre-revolutionary period. Many manufacturers would produce interior traditional shutters, which were then distributed through lumber yards and other window shutter suppliers. In recent times, interior traditional shutters have regained their popularity and are in demand once more.
Normally, traditional shutters have a width of ¾ inch and their louvers aer 1-1/4 inch wide. The lovers are generally wedge shaped and have a ridge down the center, but flat louvers are sometimes seen in traditional shutters. These window shutters can be constructed to fit any shape of window. Depending on the measurements of the window, interior window shutters are built with different panel configurations. Panels with four units are the most popular.
There are three main kinds of interior window shutters- Café style window shutters, full height window shutters and Tier on tier window shutters. Café style window shutters cover only the lower half of the windows, a style that is commonly seen in many cafes. Full height window shutters run from the top of the window to the bottom. Tier on tier window shutters are basically two sets of shutters, with one set placed below the other in tiers. This style offers extra flexibility as you can open only the top shutter or the lower separately.
Many different window shutter companies offer interior window shutters in a wide range of colors, designs and materials. The best thing to do is to ask for a sample so that you can assess what the window shutter will look like when it is actually fitted on the window.
