The two types of mounting option are Inside Mount and Outside Mount.
Inside Mount – Vintage Hanging Strip

With this particular mount, the frame is fixed directly in to the window. The shutters will open and fold back against the inside of the recess (please note that the shutters may protrude further than the recess depending upon recess depth and panel width). Sufficient clearance must be allowed between the shutters (when closed) and the window to accommodate the opening of slats and obstructions such as window handles.
Inside Mount – Plain Batten

Rather than fixing in to the window, with this particular mount the frame is fixed in to the recess. Again, the shutters will open and fold back against the inside of the recess (please note that the shutters may protrude further than the recess depending upon recess depth and panel width). Sufficient clearance must be allowed between the shutters (when closed) and the window to accommodate the opening of slats and obstructions such as window handles.
Inside Mount – Beaded Z Frame

If using a Z frame, the shutters are mounted at the front of the recess, on the edge where it meets the face of the wall. With this option, the shutter panels will fold back against the wall either side of the window. |
Outside Mount – Plain Batten

Outside Mount – Ridge Deco

On an Outside Mount, the frame is fixed outside the recess on the face of the wall. With this option, the shutter panels will fold back against the wall either side of the window.
